Our Second Time Together at Natural Bridges State Beach

Jeremiah & I spent Memorial Day at Natural Bridges State Beach. The last time we were here was in 2012! 😱 We’re always shocked whenever we think about how much time has flown by since the last time we did something.

The last time we went here we parked in the parking lot, which costs $10, but because the lot was full the second time around, we found street parking.

The Beach

Despite this photo looking like there were no crowds, there was actually a ton of people there, but I edited a few of them out 😅 We expected the crowd anyway because it was a holiday & it was also late in the day. I suggest going on a weekday or arrive at an earlier time on a weekend if you’re trying to beat the crowd. The location is beautiful & almost feels private when there aren’t too many people.

Exploring the Tidepools

I was adamant about checking out some tidepools because we weren’t able to last summer. We tried going to one reserve, but the location to the tidepools was closed off due to seals resting on the beach.

The first time we went here, we didn’t know there was a tidepool area. I found out through my cousin’s photo because I was curious which locations in the Bay Area had tidepools. I must’ve been here years ago on a school field trip since it all looked so familiar, but I can’t remember much.

At the entrance of the pathway to the tidepools, there’s a plaque of information for visitors. One of the rules to keep the preserve safe says to not pick up anything! We saw a man pick up a crab from one of the tidepools which I suggest you should not do. SMH.

We both agreed that if we plan on going back here to see the tidepools, we’ll go at an earlier time to avoid high tide.

Check out this anemone (pictured below)! There are multiple anemone throughout the tidepools, but I wasn’t able to capture as many photos as I hoped.

You can see the second tidepool area here on the right (pictured below).

I was so happy because we got to see a few colorful crabs. They kept running away, so I wasn’t able to get any decent photos of them.

I can’t wait to explore more tidepools this summer. There are a few locations I’d like to check out!

If you know of any in the Bay Area, please feel free to share/comment below!

Our First Time Together at Natural Bridges State Beach

September 13, 2012

Here’s a little throwback from the first time we visited. This was a good day💙

2012!? We were babies 😭

Perseid Meteor Shower

One of my cousin’s recently reached out to me & asked for camera recommendations because he wants to upgrade to a new camera. I created a list of cameras & lenses ranging from DSLR, mirrorless, & point & shoot/vlogging for him that I’ve been thinking about sharing on this blog, but I haven’t decided yet.

Jeremiah & I recently watched the live-action remake of Beauty & The Beast. Even though the film has been getting mixed reviews (from what I’ve seen), we both enjoyed it.
We’re also planning on watching Power Rangers this week. My brother still owns Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie & Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie on VHS. We loved watching them growing up. I don’t have high expectations for this new Power Rangers movie, but I’m hoping it will be entertaining.

Iron Fist also came out on Netflix a couple of days ago. From headlines & comments I’ve read, it’s apparently “the worst” Marvel Netflix series. Jeremiah & I are currently on the 6th episode. It’s okay so far, but I don’t think I hate it. I just think it’s going by real slow, but I’ve also read from users that it picks up after the 6th episode. I’m assuming the pace of the storyline is sort of similar to Luke Cage? The first half of Luke Cage is really good, but it was a little dreadful for me trying to get through the last half. I’m still giving Iron Fist a chance though.

Have you watched the live-action remake of Beauty & The Beast? Have you watched Iron Fist? What do you think of them so far?

Also, here are a set of photos I took last summer of the Perseid Meteor Shower. Jeremiah, my brother, & I drove out near Lake Del Valle to catch the Perseid Meteor Shower. I only had about 3 hours of sleep that night, but it was so worth it to capture these photos.

Haley’s Baptism+1st Birthday Celebration x Photo Booth

Last weekend was my niece’s Baptism & 1st birthday celebration.
I had the pleasure of setting up a photo booth for the event. I did run into some minor mistakes, but it’s okay because in order to learn & grow, you have to make mistakes, right? I still had fun trying to play around with it. I need a few more test runs & more experience with it.

Thanks for letting me do this Hanna!

*all photos from the event are posted on my personal Facebook account*

Personal Tips:

  • Bring extension cords! I remembered a few days before the event that I may need extension cords, but it completely slipped my mind. Overall, I didn’t have to use any of my umbrella lighting at all because there was plenty of light entering the hall, but it’s still good to have them just in case.
  • Invest in more props. Thankfully my sister gave me additional props because I don’t think I had enough “fun” ones to choose from. I’m still working on it.
  • Face the reality that the white sheet is just going to get dirty
  • Tablet freezing. The tablet screen froze a couple of times during the event, but I think it’s because I haven’t really figured it all out yet. I haven’t really had time to play with it or had experience with the device once it’s synced up to my camera.

Girls Tahoe Trip

On the Way to Sierra at Tahoe:

I’m so glad this trip happened! My friends & I have been trying to plan a trip for the longest time, but it never seemed to happen because of all our conflicting schedules.
We all met up & rented a car to avoid driving separately. If you’re trying to avoid driving for a long period of time, renting a car with a group of friends would probably be best since you can take turns driving. Plus, it’s cheaper when everyone chips in for the car+gas.

Once we got the car, we finally made our way to Lake Tahoe!

Sierra At Tahoe:

Once we arrived at Sierra, both parking lots were full, so everyone was turning around to park on the side. We were trying our best to avoid walking too far & luckily we found parking right in the front!

Jeremiah & I ran into some complications with our snowboard & bindings. We definitely should’ve not put our bindings on until the last minute. Since we’re new at this, we didn’t know that bindings weren’t universal. Apparently, Burton has different bindings/plates that are specific to their brand. The worker at the repair shop tried installing our bindings anyway, but it still wouldn’t fit.

  • Before investing in a snowboard & bindings, make sure they’re compatible if you’re buying them separately
  • Save a little bit of extra money in case you run into complications & have to rent
Since Jeremiah & I couldn’t use our snowboards, we both decided to rent since it was our only option. We were bummed about it because we were really excited to try our own boards out.
Once we finally got everything together, my friends & I headed to the lift. My least favorite part about snowboarding is the lift. I get so much anxiety because there weren’t any bars to hold us in. I always feel like I’m going to fall off.
Once we reached the top, we all prepared to get off & I was successful! My friend Vanessa & I didn’t fall, but Jeremiah & AJ did. LOL.

Since some people in our group have never been snowboarding, we all did an easy slope. I wish it wasn’t so sunny and hot all day. We all packed on extra layers just in case, but sometime during the slope I had to take off one of my layers to cool down.

Jeremiah & I are both getting better. He’s doing a lot better than I am. I’m falling A LOT less than I was my first time, but I’m still trying to figure out how to completely control the board.

My friend Vanessa fell pretty hard on her shoulder, so she had to stop snowboarding with us. I felt so bad, but she said that she’s glad to have still experienced something like this. She can snowboard & balance fine, but she doesn’t know how to brake. The only way she could stop is if she fell, but she took a really bad fall on her shoulder.

Sheena & I met up with Vanessa while we waited for everyone else to come back.

Once everyone came back, we all quickly took a group photo before we returned our rentals & had lunch.

The Cabin:

We all rented an Airbnb for the weekend. If you’re going with a big group, renting an Airbnb is great option because it’s cheaper and more comfortable than splitting a hotel room.
We spent the evening watching the Warriors game, playing board games, catching up on feeds, etc. One of the rooms in the cabin was EXTREMELY creepy. It looked & felt like a horror movie. The room had an extra roof or layer that we all didn’t notice at first until AJ & Vanessa pointed it out. Once we saw it, we all ran out of the room & decided that no one was going to sleep in there. LOL. The guys also cooked dinner (haha thanks!).

Snow Park:

The next day (Sunday), we all ate breakfast (thanks for cooking Sheena & Joy), cleaned up, & packed our things.
We all headed to a snow park because we had time to kill before heading back to the Bay Area. Jeremiah bought a sled at one of the shop nearby & some of us went sledding surrounded by all the other kids.
We all took photos, videos, & even had a snowball fight.

Thank you for the amazing trip! I cherish all these memories that we make together💕 Tahoe again in the summer or LA trip? 😅

I have a mini video from the trip that will be posted soon. Stay tuned!

The Last of 23, Part II

I know this post is long overdue, but better late than never!
I also have an Instagram photography account that I kept secret for various reasons, but now that I am more confident & comfortable with myself, I felt that it’s time to finally share that part of myself with you. Thank you to anyone that has genuinely & fully supported me & enjoy my work.
Feel free to follow or check out my photography account, here.
This is how I spent my last day being 23!
I barely got any sleep at all because I spent the night uploading/editing photos & I hungout with my mom for a bit.
Jeremiah & I woke up early to explore. We went to a reserve to check out tidepools, but the park rangers blocked off the area so that visitors couldn’t bother or get too near to the seals that were laid out on the beach.
After the Reserve, we went to Auntie April’s Chicken & Waffles to eat. I’m glad we grabbed breakfast & coffee before heading onto our next plan.
We went to Golden Gate Park & once we arrived, we were redirected to a designated parking area. The park was having a “Car Free” day so that people couldn’t park inside & residents can walk, run, jog, exercise, or bike within the park which was nice. We roamed around Golden Gate Park & it came as a surprise to us how many things were going on at once. Not only was there a “Car Free” day, but there ended up being an Ancient Indian Festival going on & swing dancing! I like how there’s always some activity going on in SF.
Enjoy the photos!

Good evening!

I spent some time today working on my brother’s website to showcase his work. I told him he should have a website or some kind of portfolio for others to see his photography in better resolution & I’ll be able to share a link to his website once he posts his work.
I’m really happy that he wants to take more time into getting his work recognized.

Since the site isn’t completely ready yet, in the meantime check out or follow him on instagram: visualizexfocus
