Oregon: Where We Ate

Oregon: Where We Ate

Day 1: Fat Head’s Brewery

My brother & his girlfriend were already in Oregon since the morning, but Jeremiah & I flew out later that night. We were quite exhausted when we arrived, but we still wanted to do something to celebrate my brother’s birthday + we were really hungry! We had dinner at Fat Head’s Brewery.

The portions for our meals were huge! It’s great for sharing with a group of people.

Day 2: Screen Door, Pinolo, & Pok Pok

Before we went on our hike, we had breakfast at Screen Door. Jeremiah & I had been to this breakfast spot before, but when we visited, there wasn’t a line at all! Granted, we went on a weekday vs. this time, when we went on a Saturday. I didn’t realize how packed this place could get. We all really enjoyed the food though 🤗

After our hike, we had dinner at Pok Pok.
The wait time was an hour & 45 minutes, so we walked around a bit looking for coffee. All of the coffee shops were closed, but there was a gelato place open called Pinolo that sold lattes.

After about an hour & a half, we finally got seated at Pok Pok.  I suppose the wait time was worth it since I enjoyed the food so much. I’m never able to get Thai food because Jeremiah is allergic to peanuts & plenty of Thai food contains peanuts, so we just never really risk it. However, Pok Pok served dishes that didn’t have peanuts & we made sure to request no peanuts on some dishes.

Day 3: 10 Barrel Brewing Co. & Blue Star Donuts

After the Nike Company Store, we ate at 10 Barrel Brewing Co. The flight/sampler was okay. I think it’s better when you can choose which beers you want to sample.
The food was great though!

After Ground Kontrol, our last stop of the trip was Blue Star Donuts. Jeremiah & I had been there before on our previous trip, but it was super crowded. This time, there wasn’t a wait at all because we went in during the afternoon.

Day 5: Lardo x Deschute’s Brewery

Jeremiah & I ate at Lardo for lunch. It was soooo good! We both got the Korean Pork Shoulder & shared the Dirty Fries.

After Powell’s City of Books, we walked to Deschute’s Brewery & had dinner. We shared the grilled cheese sandwich (not pictured) & it was really good. We also got another beer sampler, but I didn’t really drink any of it because I was drinking tea since I had a headache.

Day 4: Blue Star Donuts x Olympia Provisions

Our first stop was Blue Star Donuts.  I got the OG donut & Jeremiah got the blueberry basil donut. They were both good :p We sat & ate for a while before we headed out to Toketee Falls which you can read about in this post here.

After Toketee Falls, we had dinner at Olympia Provisions.

Overall, the food was interestingly good. Apparently the dish to get was a benedict, but they only served it during breakfast, so we got a sample meat plate instead.

Day 3: Tasty N Alder x Thirsty Lion x Ruby Jewel

Our first stop of the day was Tasty N Alder. The food was really good & the service was awesome. We got the potatoes bravas & the steak+eggs. They’re both really good dishes.
After having breakfast, our second stop was Munson Creek Falls, which you can read about in this post
We had dinner at Thirsty Lion which was okay. I got the spicy macaroni & cheese which was really good, but I didn’t think anything else was special. They had a trivia night going on which sounded fun.
Our last stop of the day was Ruby Jewel ice cream which had an interesting, distinct taste to it. I’d probably put this place on my “pass” list.

Day 2: Screen Door x Hopworks Urban Brewery x Salt & Straw

For breakfast we ate at the Screen Door. I got banana french toast & Jeremiah got chicken & waffles. I also got the praline bacon on the side, which was interesting, but I think I would pass that up next time.
For dinner we ate at Hopworks Urban Brewery. We tried the beer sampler & the majority of them were good! I probably liked 7/10 of them.
After dinner, we headed to Salt & Straw for ice cream/dessert. The line was super long when we arrived & it was nearly 10PM! I got the Stumptown Coffee flavored one & it was yummy :p
