Jeremiah & I finally found the time to go exploring again 😭 It has been a whirlwind these past couple of months. It’s nice finally being able to spend a weekend to explore without feeling worried about anything.
We have a list of places we want to explore &, luckily, his parent’s live somewhat close to some on our list. We were able to knock out more than one this weekend.
One of the places that was new to us was Yankee Jim’s Bridge, also known as Colfax-Foresthill Bridge.
There is very little parking, so I highly suggest trying to get here early. We arrived around 1 PM & we were able to find a spot. You can park on either end of the bridge.
Yankee Jim’s Bridge hovers right over the North American River. Check out how beautiful the water looks 😍
We brought our two floaties, but we decided to only blow up one. This nice family that was set up next to us let us borrow their air pump. We haven’t gone exploring in so long that we were actually so unprepared! We don’t know where our car air pump is, we forgot our swimming shoes, & we didn’t bring sunscreen even though we have 4 bottles at home 😂😭 We are definitely paying for that sunburn right now.
There isn’t much flat area, so try to arrive early to secure a spot. Since there were only two of us, we were able to just put our mat down & chill.
The water was extremely cold! Once the weather really heats up, I imagine it’s going to feel so refreshing to jump in.
A few people were jumping off the rocks right into the river. There are some videos I found on google yesterday of people jumping off a higher rock near the bottom of the bridge. The water is pretty clear, but I still wouldn’t suggest it because there are some groups that go river rafting (which you can kind of see in the below photo) & you wouldn’t want to potentially injure anyone.
I would definitely go back here! 🤗
