France: Day 2

Paris, France

I got up early to get ready & once we were out of the hotel, the first thing we had to do was grab coffee & a bite to eat! We went to Eric Kayser, which you can read about here. Thankfully the location we went to was only a short walk to the next thing on our itinerary: the Musee D’Orsay!

Musee D’Orsay

We also bought our tickets online to avoid wasting time waiting in line . We actually arrived before the museum even opened, so it was great for us because we wanted to avoid the crowds. Plus, we also had other ticket reservations for our next activity, so we wanted to get in as much time at the museum as possible.

The first floor Jeremiah & I visited was the Impressionism exhibit, which was actually on the 3rd or 4th floor (I can’t remember). I wanted to see the paintings without the huge crowd & I’m glad we actually did this first because it got crowded around 11 AM.

I bought a copy of the painting below at the museum. It’s “Dancers in Blue” from the Impressionist painter Edgar Degas. This is the only painting that had me FLOORED. I started tearing up in front of it when I saw it. I got goosebumps in this gallery.

The photos absolutely don’t do the paintings justice. During my visit at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) a couple of years ago, there was a great variety of Impressionism to see, but I can’t be sure of that now since exhibits do change over time.
There is also a beautiful restaurant at the top next to the Impressionism exhibit.

You can also go outside on the balcony & see the views.

There wasn’t anyone in this ballroom, so Jeremiah & I danced in it & it felt like Beauty & the Beast. Lol.

After the museum, I got hungry, so I grabbed a snack at Tabac d’Orsay which I added to my France Eats post here!

Giverny

We walked all the way from Musee D’Orsay to PARISCityVISION because that’s where the shuttle was at to take us to Giverny. The line to check in for our reservation was SUPER long, so it’s a good thing we actually arrived earlier than our departure. & it’s also a good thing that we booked our tickets online.
Once we were finally able to board the bus, we headed off to Giverny!

Once we arrived at Claude Monet’s Garden, we were all FLOORED at the sight of how beautiful everything was. Since our ticket reservation time was only 2 hours, we unfortunately had to rush through the beautiful gardens 😭 We weren’t able to see everything or spend as much time here as we had liked. We still enjoyed it nonetheless. If you ever plan on visiting here, I advise choosing the ticket reservation that is allotted for 4 hours because 2 hours was definitely not enough.

We made our way back to Paris & saw that some roads were closed off & a red carpet was all rolled out. Apparently Tom Cruise & the cast of Mission: Impossible were there for the premiere of the new movie!!!!!!

After making our way back to Paris, we grabbed dinner at a pho restaurant because I woke up with a sore throat & wanted some soup 🍜 I added the pho restaurant to my post of France Eats here!

After dinner, we took an Uber to see the Eiffel Tower.

Eiffel Tower

Apparently there’s different entrances around the tower, but the line for tickets are the same. The line for the Eiffel Tower took a long time, but we didn’t mind waiting really since it’s one of the bucket list things you have to do!
There are different prices for tickets when you want to go up to the Eiffel Tower. We didn’t go all the way to the top because it was more expensive. We decided to only hit the second level.

It was so cold up here!

We also looked around in the gift shops before leaving.
After the Eiffel Tower, we wanted to take an Uber back, but they were so expensive. The prices change very quickly depending on the time & location. I think because there are so many tourists that want to see the Eiffel Tower at night. The rates were still expensive EVEN at 11 PM!

We decided to walk farther away from the Eiffel Tower because we hoped we would find a lower fare if we were farther away from the tourist attractions.

The walking is a killer, but it’s better than paying over 90 euros for an Uber.

We got back to the hotel so exhausted, but it was a successful day even with the sore throat 😷
